Barbershops in Charlotte NC: Creating a modern barbershop that was more like a men's club than a hair salon was the vision of master barber Joe Grondin. He opened the doors to the first Roosters in 1999 and has been opening one location at a time ever since. "1 try not to get ahead of myself," said Grondin, with a characteristic wit that has become part of what he calls his "chairside" manner. Roosters Men's Grooming Centers have opened barbershops in several cities all across America, and are now expanding more rapidly to meet demand.
Charlotte entrepreneur Larry Bonhaus brought Roosters to the Queen City in 2005. Frustrated about not being able to find a barber shop to meet his own grooming needs ("1 have really curly hair which can be hard to cut correctly"), and finding that nearly everywhere he turned in Charlotte, men were sharing similar stories about the lack of quality full service grooming at a fair price, Larry began searching for a solution.
Larry liked what he saw in Roosters because it offered a mens barbershop with a total grooming solution based on quality of service rather than speed. "Many of our most loyal Clients originally came to us from discount salons with the words "Clip" or "Cut" in their name because they knew, from experience, that speed was not always a good thing. Other loyal Clients came to us to get away from the perm smells, hair rollers, high prices and girl chatter of their wife's spa/salon."
